Government Spending Review – Help Grassroots Football Get The Money It Needs

FA call to action:

Protect Grassroots funding #GetYourkitOn

The Government Spending Review is due to be finalized at the end of the month. Cuts ranging between 25-40% can be expected. Help the FA protect Grassroots funding by promoting your reasons why being involved in football is so important to the children in this country. The below is extracted from the #GetYourKitOn team explained how and why your should help. Please take a moment to read and then show your support by visiting

#GetYourKitOn for Grassroots Sport

Cuts of 25-40% to sport’s funding from the Exchequer are widely expected in the Spending Review on 25 November. Reductions at this level for the Department For Culture, Media and Sport would cost community sport significant amounts of investment

We want everybody to show their support for grassroots sport and how much they value government investment into the sector.

With widespread support from the sector, we’re campaigning to protect funding for grassroots sport.

Visit to upload your photo of you in your sports kit to support grassroots sport. You can also post a direct message to George Osborne telling him why he should protect sports funding. You’ll also be able to download images and infographics to share on your digitial channels and grow the #GetYourKitOn team.

Read a blog from Emma Boggis, Sport and Recreation Alliance Chief Executive, about what grassroots sports means to her and the sector as a whole.
