Division 2

In what was a closely contested clash between 1st and 2nd, Ashton Keynes came out on top. The first half saw both teams create chances but Ashton breaking the deadlock first when Ferndale failed to clear a corner ball as Will Malcom Headed the ball down to Charlie Cook’s feet who kept his composure and tucked away from close range. The game started to open up and became quite end to end and with a direct ball of the top of the Ashton defence saw the Ferndale striker go through and slot home to bring things level.   After the break Ferndale clearly looked to tip the balance and go for the win, however they were met by a even more determined Ashton side. With the pressure slowly building in Ashton’s favour, Ferndale continued to find themselves pinned back and when a through ball over the top was latched onto by Ewan Palmer he had no choice but to drive towards goal and smashed it home giving the Ferndale goalkeeper very little chance of saving.  Ferndale then had to pull something special out of the bag and mounted an all out attack on Ashton backline and came close on a few occasions but without success.   Ashton held on for a well deserved 2-1 win which see’s them increase their grasp opening the gap to 5 points at Christmas.  MOM: Ed Fish for an outstanding defensive display both aerially and physically.

A Hard fought game between two sides who really went out to win the game to process through to the next round of the county cup, With only a few chances from either side it was Supermarine who took the lead 5 minutes before half time when Daziel Hylton stole the ball on the edge of the box to create a chance to shoot which the keeper saved but Tommy Lawrence followed in on the spilled ball and slotted the ball home.  In the Second half it was still a tightly fought contest but with some good pressure from FC Chippenham see them twice in close succession to turn the tie around in their favour, With both teams still cancelling each other out. it was with only 4 minutes remaining that Swindon Supermarine equalised with a great run down the wing From Tommy Lawrence who then Drilled the ball across the Box for George Herbert to volley home from 6 yards.  So both teams went into extra time and were fully committed to winning the tie but in the second half of extra time a Solo run from Tommy Lawrence beat the last two defenders to the slide the ball past the keeper to win the game and put Swindon Supermarine into the next round
