NWYFL League Cup Finals – U12

Ashton Keynes clinched victory in the North Wilts Youth League U12 Cup courtesy of Tom Oram’s second-half strike.

Victory though didn’t come easy for Ashton Keynes with Greenmeadow Youth unlucky not to score in the first half.

Joshua Dopson and Sam Ponting both went close for Greenmeadow early on before Ashton Keynes’ Samuel Hughes fired wide.

Dopson then curled agonisingly wide for Greenmeadow before Daniel Gregory shot wide soon after.

Ashton Keynes enjoyed their best chance of the game just before the break when Oram headed over the bar with the keeper stranded.

After the break, Sam Hughes fired wide inside the box before Oram eluded the Greenmeadow defence to flick a long ball forward from Callum Fowler into the net.

Greenmeadow pushed for an equaliser with Ponting and Elijah Murkin-Whyte all missing chances to score.

Meanwhile Emily McGrogan was in fine form between the posts for Greenmeadow as she pulled off a string of fine saves to deny Ashton Keynes a second goal.

Greenmeadow though couldn’t find that crucial equaliser and it was Ashton Keynes who held on to win the cup.
